Investigations 101
Senior management, human resources teams, and compliance personnel of businesses of all sizes and in a wide variety of industries are confronted every day with evidence or allegations of potential wrongdoing at their companies. Investigations can help the organization identify and resolve internal problems before they become widespread. Given that every complaint has the potential to become a lawsuit, it is critical to conduct a prompt, fair, neutral, and thorough investigation. This session gives you information and practical advice on how to handle an internal investigation effectively.
This session will cover:
- When to conduct an investigation,
- Assigning an investigator & determining the scope of the investigation,
- Preparing to investigate (i.e. preparing for interviews and information gathering),
- Basic interview techniques (including interviewing complainants, respondents, and witnesses),
- Assessing witness credibility, and
- Writing an investigation report/summary.
